Before moving to America in 2023, “I used to not do eyeliner,” says Katseye’s Yoonchae. “I used to just do eyeshadow with contour and blush, that’s all… I looked like a baby.” How times have changed. While sharing her Beauty Secrets with Vogue, the Seoul native reveals that not only does she wear eyeliner now—both pencil and liquid, in fact—but she knows exactly how to make her face look more sculpted, less sweet.
To start, the 18-year-old dots Luna concealer under her eyes in an upside-down triangle formation. “I like to brighten this middle part [of my face] so I look a little snatched,” she says. Yoonchae’s lifting and tightening techniques also come into play when she’s on the clock.
As she dusts Rom&nd’s powder contour onto the inner corner of each eye, the singer explains: “I do this to look snatched, because especially on camera, when I don’t do contour, I look a little bit empty…Especially nose contour is very important.”
The K-pop star uses the Korean powder to shade the sides of her nose, as well as its tip. Her final tip for looking “snatched?” Dust brown eyeshadow onto the pocket of fat under each eye, a Korean makeup technique known as aegyo sal. This step, however, is strictly for Yoonchae’s private life. “When I go onstage, I don’t do aegyo sal, because it makes you look a little bit cuter,” she says. “Katseye is not a cute concept.”
