Tate McRae fronts Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood issue cover story in images shot by David Roemer (Atelier Management). The pop star anchors the feature in a run of sleek studio portraits. The images echo an interview built around fame, pressure, and what happens once the lights come down.

Styling by Lucy Gaston shifts McRae between soft and sporty registers. In one frame, she’s in a pale yellow cropped knit and gold briefs, arms lifted overhead, chunky black shoes grounding the look. In another, she crouches low in a fitted gray top, Calvin Klein underwear, and slouchy gray leg warmers.

In her interview, McRae speaks candidly about the emotional comedown after her “Miss Possessive” tour, describing how long the exhaustion lingered. “My thoughts felt so dark at the time,” she admits, adding that she had to relearn how to “come back into my body.”

Hair by Evanie Frausto and makeup by Kali Kennedy keep the beauty soft and glossy. Meanwhile, Jacob Burstein’s set design gives the clothes and movement room to lead.

Tate McRae isn’t just in Variety this month. See her pose for adidas Sportswear.
