Kelly Clarkson hasn’t lost her cheeky sense of humor.
“I would get fired by NBC, but I don’t work there anymore,” Clarkson joked during her Friday night concert at Caesar’s Palace Vegas, while stroking a fan’s sequin jacket sleeve, before noting that she’s “sad” her talk show ended because “it was a fun show,” per Us Weekly.
The “American Idol” alum shared in February that she would be wrapping her eponymous talk show after seven seasons, noting it was not an “easy decision” but that she was “stepping away” to focus on her kids, whom she shared with her late ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.
Blackstock died of cancer in August 2025 at age 48.
The couple settled their divorce in 2022 after years of contentious court battles.
Clarkson shared back in February that prioritizing their children following the death of their father felt “necessary and right for this next chapter of [their] lives.”
Earlier this month, the Grammy winner announced plans to release a new single, the first since “Where Have You Been” came out in May 2025.
“New Single? 👀 #IdBeLyin,” the Grammy winner told her Instagram followers on July 2. “Pre-save link in bio! #July17.”
The single’s premiere date coincided with Clarkson’s Las Vegas residency, which kicked off on Friday and ends mid-August.
Clarkson is also returning as a “Voice” coach this fall for the competition series 30th season.
She originally appeared as a coach on the long-running series from Seasons 14 to 21.
Earlier this year, Page Six exclusively reported that Clarkson was “excited to move at a different pace” now that her talk show is over and is looking forward to doing more “creative work.”
The source added that “she still wants to make music and perform, and she’s open to popping up on projects she enjoys, but nothing that requires an ongoing daily grind.”
