There’s no denying that the adventures of Wednesday Addams have an international audience hooked. Wednesday is officially one of Netflix’s most-streamed series of all time, with interest only rising since the show debuted at number one on Netflix in 83 countries following the 2022 release of series one.
In Tim Burton’s gloomy world, Wednesday (played by Jenna Ortega) is expelled from school after releasing piranhas into the swimming pool after the boys’ water polo team bully her brother Pugsley. The answer? Nevermore Academy, once the educational stomping ground of her parents Gomez (Luis Guzmán) and Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and home to teens who possess a wide range of supernatural and psychic abilities.
Now, as anticipation for series three reaches boiling point, we’ve been treated to a tiny snippet of what’s to come via a post on Netflix UK’s Instagram account – Wednesday’s headed to the City of Love.
The post, published on Tuesday 21 April, features actress Jenna Ortega decked out in all her Gothic finery, gazing into the distance in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower. The caption simply reads, “From Paris, with dread”.
In a release dated Thursday 9 April, Netflix revealed new details about the upcoming adventures.
Newcomers include Winona Ryder (Stranger Things), Chris Sarandon (The Princess Bride), Noah Taylor (Game of Thrones), Oscar Morgan (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms) and Kennedy Moyer (Task).
Series three will also see guest appearances from Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), Andrew McCarthy (St. Elmo’s Fire), and James Lance (Ted Lasso).
While series one was primarily filmed around the Romanian town of Bușteni, series two filming took place in Ireland. For series three, alongside a stint to Paris, we’ve heard rumours the cast and crew set up for production near Dublin.
