Battersea Power Station restaurants are like safe havens among the hustle and bustle of what’s become one of London’s shopping utopias. After many years falling into gradual deterioration, the former power plant was painstakingly transformed into the glistening attraction we know today, opening its doors as a new shopping and leisure destination in October 2022. Inside, designer shops and sprawling high street favourites galore, with a roster of events for little ones and big kids alike luring the uninitiated inside.

Through the chillier months, it’s a cosy place to tick plenty of boxes in one go, while, come summer, the fun spills out onto the riverside, with activities, mini-festivals and food markets making visits an al-fresco affair. Once the shopping bags are loaded and legs start to ache – or kids kick off after being denied the toy they had their heart momentarily set on – it’s time to eat; and there’s no shortage of options in these parts now. From a beloved Indian restaurant to a splendid spot via a chic Italian hideout, these are the best places to eat in and around Battersea Power Station on your next visit.

Dishoom Battersea

John Carey

Dishoom Battersea

Best for: Warming spreads

Dishoom has garnered quite the cult following over the years, so it’s only right that London’s hottest regeneration project houses its own love letter to Bombay. Expect soaring ceilings and signature earthy tones bathed in warm light, the contact buzz of animated conversation and the unmistakable aroma of spices that draw diners back time and time again. Tear strips of doughy bread off to soak up offerings of rich, velvety daal and devour meaty curries once hefty spoonfuls adorn piles of fluffy rice, or swing by in the morning for one of their iconic naan rolls.

Wright Brothers Battersea Power Station

Best for: Leisurely seafood feasts

Ben and Robin founded Wright Brothers in 2002, ready to share their passion for quality seafood with the rest of the UK. What started as a wholesale business has since grown into a string of restaurants, starting with Borough Market and evolving to include South Kensington and Battersea Power Station. Expect dressed oysters followed by Atlantic prawns for dipping and roasted scallops doused in garlic butter before the main event – whole Brixham Dover sole meuniere and Dorset crab linguine among them. Cleanse the palate with a paloma and look out to the River Thames… to contemplate what’s for dessert, of course.

Joia

Matt Russell

JOIA Restaurant, Bar & Rooftop

Best for: Food and drink with a view

You’ll find the parts that make up JOIA Restaurant, Bar & Rooftop high above the hum of South London, reachable through the welcoming entrance of art’otel London Battersea Power Station. What awaits is the first London restaurant by award-winning two Michelin-starred Portuguese chef Henrique Sá Pessoa, where menus are inspired by his culinary heritage and adventures along Portugal’s Iberian Peninsula. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the chimneys in cinematic fashion, providing the entertainment as plates are handed through the pass in quick succession. And then there’s the rooftop – a space devotees only wish they could gatekeep on sun-soaked evenings. Cocktails, skyline, a sense of occasion that doesn’t tip into excess – what more could you ask for?

Arcade Battersea

Best for: A little bit of everything

Arcade’s Battersea site is found within Battersea Power Station itself and is a very welcome addition to the indoor offerings for large groups, fussy families and the more indecisive foodies among us. Amble around the market-style venue slowly before committing to a dish or two – food envy brings out the worst in us, after all. Highlights include juicy smash burgers and fries from Manna, indulgent BBQ paneer tikka rolls from Hero Indian and pizzas from Gracey’s that’ll have you returning in a flash. There’s a fully-licensed bar, plenty of booths and corners to occupy, and the space takes on a buzzier feel on weekend early evenings.

Fiume by Sartoria

Best for: A taste of La Dolce Vita

Fiume takes its name from the Italian word for river, so it’s only right that it’s among the best Battersea Power Station restaurants for views over the bending Thames. The sizeable Mediterranean piazza-style terrace is one of the hottest suntraps in town on balmy afternoons, as well-heeled locals are joined by shopaholics and Italophiles to crunch through small plates and wash meaty mains down with plenty of wine. The menu boasts all the classics, executed exceptionally well, from the vibrant carbonara to bolognese via hand-stretched pizzas stone-baked to perfection.
