Ryan Phillippe revealed new details about his and then-wife Reese Witherspoon’s wild night at the 2006 Oscars.
“It was a wild night altogether because my wife at the time, Reese Witherspoon, also won Best Actress,” Phillippe recalled during his Wednesday appearance on “Live with Kelly and Mark.”
“While she was backstage giving her post-award interviews, they called Best Picture for ‘Crash.’”
“Morgan Freeman was the presenter of the Best Picture and I had never met Morgan Freeman so I fanned out on stage at the Oscars,” the actor continued.
“I’m like, ‘I’ve always wanted to meet you, sir,’ and this is while the producer is accepting the award. Kind of a funny moment.”
The celebrations didn’t end there, as Phillippe recalled partying “up until probably 5 or 6 in the morning.”
“We had such a fun after-party,” he gushed.
At the 2006 Academy Awards, Witherspoon took home Best Actress for her role as June Carter in “Walk The Line.”
The biographical drama, directed by James Mangold, follows Johnny Cash (Joaquin Phoenix) in his early life, his romance with Carter, his ascent in the country music scene and his drug addiction.
Phillippe was part of the cast of “Crash,” which took home Best Picture.
The Paul Haggis-directed crime film features racial and social tensions in Los Angeles and was inspired by a real-life incident the director experienced.
The ensemble cast also includes Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle, Matt Dillon, Jennifer Esposito, William Fichtner, Brendan Fraser, Terrence Howard, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Thandiwe Newton and Michael Peña.
While it was a victorious night for both Phillippe and Witherspoon, the “Legally Blonde” actress filed for divorce just a few months later. They finalized their split in 2008.
During their marriage, the duo welcomed daughter Ava, now 27, and son Deacon, now 22, in 1999 and 2003, respectively.
The exes have put on a united co-parenting front over the years, most recently reuniting for their son’s graduation from New York University in May.
In photos obtained by Page Six at the time, the former pair were all smiles as they posed for photos with the graduate.
