Great skin is always in.
While hypochlorous acid isn’t new, the acne-fighting skin care ingredient has been taking off on social media in a major way lately.
And Paige DeSorbo recently revealed on “Giggly Squad” that Medicube’s Hypochlorous Acid Daily Facial Spray is the only product she uses on flights, saying it “helps [keep] you from breaking out.”
Double board-certified cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Dendy Engelman is a fan of the calming, hydrating mist as well, telling Page Six Style it’s “very effective at soothing the skin and helping prevent acne breakouts, with clinically proven results.”

For people who are acne-prone, she recommends applying it intermittently — particularly when experiencing excess sweat or oiliness, like after a workout or a hectic travel day.
“Hypochlorous acid is a relatively weak acid that has antimicrobial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties,” the NYC-based doc explained of the ingredient, which is also naturally produced by the body.

Engelman added that it can also be used for body acne, or even as a disinfectant.
“As we look ahead to colder months, this is top of mind,” she said. “A hypochlorous acid spray can be used as hand sanitizer or to disinfect surfaces.”
