Village PM Has One of the Hottest Sneakers in the World and It Just Got an Upgrade

Just days after Village PM’s buzzy 1PM sneaker was ranked as one of the world’s hottest products in the Q1 2026 Lyst Index, the Parisian skate shoe brand has released a new spin on the model, and it may be the classiest look yet.

The Village PM 1PM sneaker was released Wednesday in full-grain black leather, a first for the typically canvas or suede shoe. Despite the material update, the rest of the 1PM’s build remains unchanged with a mesh tongue and dual pull tabs. 

The key feature, of course, is the label’s proprietary Rubber Glove technology, which wraps the shoe in a soft, sticky rubber intended for a quick break-in without losing durability. The aim is to ensure the fit remains snug and supportive throughout the shoe’s lifespan. And what’s more is that in the unlikely event something on the 1PM fails, the shoes are designed to be repaired.

“It’s kind of the same thing where people would go to local cobblers or climbing shoe repair shops,” Village PM cofounder Basile Lapray told FN. “They will be able to [fix the shoes] either with our own spare parts that we will provide, or with some generic rubber sheets those shops have. And we find it even more cool, because then the shoe really has a second life with another kind of rubber with maybe different properties, but it’s unique.”

Lapray and cofounder Bram De Cleen were inspired to develop a new skate sneaker after noticing that their peers would often wear shoes only to skateboard in before switching into something more comfortable or stylish. 

“With Bram, my cofounder, we said, OK, if even skateboarders are not wearing skate shoes anymore, it means that there’s probably something else to offer,” Lapray said.

The Village PM 1PM is now available in full-grain black leather exclusively from village-pm.com for $135. The brand has also confirmed that its products will soon be stocked in the U.S.
