Jimmy Butler made his Met Gala debut Monday night while wearing a fully custom outfit by Alo.

The Golden State Warriors star’s all-black look saw him wear a hoodie underneath a cropped jacket with wide trousers and a new patent leather take on the Sunset Sneaker. Alo’s logo could be seen on both the jacket and pant in white, breaking up the otherwise all-black outfit.

In a behind-the-scenes video posted to Alo’s Instagram page, Butler said: “The me that I am right here sitting in front of you guys. Not a me that ever thought I would go to the Met Gala. Not a me that would ever think that I would be 10 toes, two feet into fashion.”

The low-profile Sunset Sneaker launched last summer with a classic profile of a retro runner and a T-toe overlay. It’s typically made out of suede, but Butler got a patent leather build more befitting of the black-tie event.

Butler was photographed along with Dwyane Wade on the red carpet, and Warriors teammate Steph Curry was also at the fundraising gala. Also representing the NBA was Russell Westbrook, while the WNBA was well accounted for with A’ja Wilson, who served on the host committee, Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers. Other athletes in attendance included co-chair Venus Williams, Serena Williams, Alysa Liu, Naomi Osaka, Joe Burrow and Justin Jefferson.

Alo and Butler announced their partnership last fall and began with his take on the Recover Mode sneaker for the brand’s first footwear collaboration.

On the court, the swingman wears sneakers from Li-Ning, with which he’s been signed since 2020 after five years with Jordan Brand.

The 2026 Met Gala “Costume Art” was the theme for the 2026 Met Gala, with the dress code set as “Fashion Is Art.” Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Nicole Kidman and Anna Wintour joined Williams as co-chairs.
