Margot Robbie opted for a gilded design by Matthieu Blazy for Chanel at the 2026 Met Gala red carpet in New York City on Monday.

Courtesy of the French luxury fashion house, for which Robbie serves as an ambassador and frequent campaign star, the long strapless, draped golden lamé dress was adorned in the back with cascading ruffles in a gradient of flower petals and a golden flower embellished with feathers.
761 hours and 1,080 embroidered elements were required in the making of the dress. Robbie was styled by Andrew Mukamal, who collaborated with the Oscar-nominated actress on her “Barbie” and “Wuthering Heights” press tours.

Along with her Chanel dress, Robbie accessorized her attire with earrings from the French luxury fashion house. The “Wuthering Heights” star wore golden Sillage earrings in the large version in 18-karat white gold, 18-karat yellow gold, diamonds, yellow sapphires, spessartite garnets, and two pear-shaped yellow sapphires, a Lion emblematique ring in 18-karat yellow gold, platinum, diamonds, yellow sapphires, and a braid ring in 18-karat yellow gold and diamonds.
Robbie has attended the Met Gala three times, making her debut in 2014 in a custom Prada tea-length gown for the “Charles James: Beyond Fashion” theme.

She returned in 2016 in an elegant white Calvin Klein dress and again in 2023 in an archival Chanel corseted black gown honoring the late Karl Lagerfeld — fitting for Robbie, who was among the final Chanel ambassadors personally chosen by the designer.

The 2026 Met Gala took place on Monday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This year’s exhibition, “Costume Art,” celebrated fashion as an art form, with a dress code of “Fashion Is Art.” The event was co-chaired by Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour, with Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos serving as honorary chairs. The annual benefit raises funds for the Met’s Costume Institute.
