Gold heels were the first read at A King’s Trust Celebration on Monday night at Royal Albert Hall in London, but the carpet did not stay in full metallic mode for long.

The arrivals moved between pale gold sandals, as seen on Lily Collins, along with mirrored pumps and crystal-trimmed stilettos before settling into a second lane: black pumps with texture. Queen Camilla returned to her one of her go-to suede-and-leather cap-toe pumps, while Jessica Oyelowo wore black patent mary janes with floral and crystal detail. The event marked 50 years of The King’s Trust, but the footwear story stayed firmly in evening territory — metallic where it counted, black where the finish did the work.

Collins gave the gold-heel run its barest shape in Jimmy Choo’s Jenn 100 Gold Metallic Nappa Leather Sandals. The $925 pale gold style came down to one smooth toe band, a thin ankle strap and a high pin heel, set against a strapless ankle-length dress worked in tight rows of silver and gold beading.

Amal Clooney appeared to wear Christian Louboutin’s Kate 100 pumps in gold metallic leather. The pumps had a pointed front, low vamp and slim stiletto heel, with the mirrored gold finish picking up the chevron-like patterning across her archival McQueen dress. She carried a matching metallic clutch to complete the high-shine look.

Queen Camilla returned to her bespoke Eliot Zed pumps in soft black suede with a black leather toe cap, after wearing the same pair just days earlier at the Badminton Horse Trials. The shoes had a low rounded vamp, softly squared cap toe and short tapered heel, bringing a two-texture black finish to her purple lace dress.

The “2002” singer moved the gold thread into satin and crystal with Aquazzura’s Constellation 105 pumps. The pointed stilettos had heavy crystal work across the toe box, scattered embellishment along the sides and more sparkle at the heel counter. A low-cut vamp exposed the top of the foot, while a thin metallic heel lifted the soft gold satin. She wore the pair with a royal blue off-the-shoulder velvet dress.

The singer-songwriter and wife of David Oyelowo managed to combine both the more serious tone of the black shoe trend and the shimmer of the metallic gold shoes in a pair of black patent Dolce & Gabbana floral mary jane pumps. The pointed-toe stilettos had a thin heel, a slender strap across the foot and pearl-like buttons at the ankle and heel counter, with red rose detailing and small crystals adding a decorative flash at the front.

The King’s Trust, formerly The Prince’s Trust, was founded by King Charles III in 1976 to support young people through education, employment and enterprise programs. Monday’s Royal Albert Hall celebration marked the charity’s 50th anniversary.
