Kendall Jenner’s Met Gala 2026 Dress Was Inspired by the Winged Victory of Samothrace

Kendall Jenner channeled goddess inspiration for the 2026 Met Gala on Monday, wearing a custom GapStudio dress designed by Zac Posen. Her look was inspired by the Winged Victory of Samothrace, one of the rare Greek statues that are part of the Louvre collection.

Jenner’s dress was a floor-length, draped gown, constructed through asymmetric gathering and ruching that wraps around the body from a single shoulder strap. The fabric was pulled and knotted at the hip, creating movement and tension through the silhouette. The skirt drifted into a modest train.

“The starting point was the Winged Victory of Samothrace — a powerful symbol of strength, femininity and freedom. It’s timeless, an icon of femininity from the Hellenistic period that captures high-level realism and movement of space and air. It represents both power and fluidity, which felt incredibly relevant. Art isn’t static — it moves through time and continues to inspire,” Zac Posen told WWD.

Delicate diamond drop earrings, a thin diamond necklace, and a white ring completed Jenner’s look.

Jenner made her Met Gala debut in 2014 in a satin Topshop dress for the “Charles James: Beyond Fashion” theme and has been a near-annual presence ever since. Her looks have included a custom Off-White gown by the late Virgil Abloh in 2018, a colorful feathered Versace look alongside sister Kylie Jenner in 2019, a sheer Givenchy couture gown in 2021, a dramatic Prada ballgown in 2022, a custom Marc Jacobs jumpsuit in 2023, an archival Givenchy lace gown in 2024, and a Toriheju menswear-inspired look in 2025.

The 2026 Met Gala took place on Monday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This year’s exhibition, “Costume Art,” celebrated fashion as an art form, with a dress code of “Fashion Is Art.” The event was co-chaired by Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour, with Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos serving as honorary chairs. The annual benefit raises funds for the Met’s Costume Institute.
