Angel Reese strutted up the steps at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s 2026 Met Gala in New York City on Monday. The Atlanta Dream player arrived for her third Met Gala in custom Altuzarra and Stuart Weitzman shoes.

The gown is crafted from a lightweight taffeta woven in Italy, with carefully selected yarn colors that create a subtle iridescence. The dress draws inspiration from the work of 18th-century painter Thomas Gainsborough, reinterpreting the codes of a classic trenchcoat into an opulent, off-the-shoulder gown.
It reflects the voluminous and feminine silhouettes seen in Gainsborough’s paintings, while being designed to appear as though it is coming “undone,” artfully revealing the body beneath. She paired the look with Smiling Rocks jewelry and custom Stuart Weitzman shoes.
The luxury footwear brand provided the athlete with a minimalist sandal in the same pale pink hue as her dress. The barely there style featured a slender strap across the toes and a thin ankle strap while a stiletto heel boosted the set. The satiny material of the shoes provided a subtle luster to the footwear look.

Reese made her Met Gala debut in 2024, which took place on May 6 and was also her 22nd birthday. The WNBA star, who was drafted by the Chicago Sky that year, attended the event wearing a custom dress by British label 16Arlington. She returned in 2025 for her second Met Gala, but this time she was a host committee member. For that event, she wore a custom dress by Thom Browne, that the designer described as a “tuxedo disguised in a dress.”

The designer created the look to follow the 2025 theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The look consisted of a black duchess satin trompe l’oeil cropped jacket with silk satin lacing and contrasting three-ply mohair bust.
It also featured exaggerated hip corset and a matching drop-waist skirt with an extended train. The skirt was embroidered with a shiny black bugle bead tuxedo stripe. Her shoes were low throat wingtip pumps in black patent leather.

The 2026 Met Gala took place on Monday, May 4, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This year’s exhibition, “Costume Art,” celebrated fashion as an art form, with a dress code of “Fashion Is Art.” The event was co-chaired by Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour, with Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos serving as honorary chairs. The annual benefit raises funds for the Met’s Costume Institute.
