Although the hype didn’t carry over to its re-release in 2021, the Nike LeBron 8 “South Beach” was one of the most iconic sneakers of the previous decade and across LeBron James’ career. As a result, the name is unofficially attributed to any other shoe that surfaces with its own mix of turquoise and pink, and a new colorway of the Nike Air Max 95 is no exception.
The Nike Air Max 95 Big Bubble “South Beach” makes subtle use of the color combination signature to Miami. A classic grayscale look defines the majority of the sneaker, including a gradient series of stripes. Pops of the “South Beach” hues arrive through the tongue “Air Max” logo, tiny lateral Swoosh and even a multicolor Air Max unit at the heel. Turquoise then stands alone on the heel branding and forefoot Air units, while pink likewise stands alone for portions of the outsole and eyestay loop striping.
Nike reintroduced “Big Bubble” Air Max units last year for proportions more true to the model’s original run and have maintained the schematics on a wide range of releases since, including classic makeups, collaborations and a sudden outpouring of new treatments. This helped put the spotlight back on the Air Max 95 for its 30th anniversary, and the momentum still shows no signs of slowing down heading into another summer.
