Now just over a year since it’s become widely available, the Evo SL is the star of Adidas‘ running lineup. Chief executive officer Bjørn Gulden announced in early 2026 that the shoe was approaching 10 million pairs sold, and that figure should continue to grow with several builds on the market and a recent uptick in collaborations.
Joining the mix soon and adding a literal star to the shoe is the Bape x Adidas Evo SL, which may very well be the boldest take on the silhouette to date. A mismatched color scheme sees pink and blue appear on the left and right shoe, respectively. Branding is likewise scrambled, as the Bape “Sta” logo gets medial placement on the left shoe and lateral on the right. Metallic gold takes over for the medial brand hits, as well as Adidas’ mountain logo on the left mustache and Bape’s ape logo on the left. Yet another flourish then comes through the application of Bape’s “Cloud” camo on the lining and insole.
Intended as a super trainer and first made available on a limited basis in fall 2024, the Evo SL has been widely adopted for a variety of runs, in addition to lifestyle wear. The Evo SL Exo, one of several offshoots including the Evo SL ATR and Evo SL Woven, has helped bridge the gap between the two categories, as have recent collaborations with The Whitaker Group, BSTN and Tune.
The Evo SL’s full-length Lightstrike Pro foam midsole features rocker geometry informed by the Pro Evo 1 super shoe, and its minimalist upper has been reinforced by different means through each of the ATR, Exo and Woven iterations.
The Bape x Adidas Evo SL will release June 1 through Adidas’ app, with Bape also likely to release the shoe via its own channels at some point. Pricing is set at $200.
