Veronica Mars has nothing on Kristen Bell’s latest detective work.

The actress revealed that she uses her and Dax Shepard’s daughters to spy on him while she is away.

“Usually when I leave, they can be mischievous when they’re together, my husband and my kids,” Bell shared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” Thursday of their kids, Lincoln, 13, and Delta, 11.

“Whenever I leave town, I usually receive, almost immediately, notifications on my phone, ‘You’re McDonald’s has been delivered.’ ‘Your Taco Bell has been delivered.’ They just eat fast food.”

“But here’s what he didn’t consider, I have a mole on the ground, obviously,” Bell, 46, joked.

The “Nobody Wants This” star said she gets “in-house paparazzi photos” from Lincoln, giving a play-by-play of what Shepard is up to.

In one picture she received from her oldest daughter, it was the girls’ bedtime, but instead, Shepard was “in the cereal cupboard just going hogwild.”

“She took sneaky photos,” Fallon quipped, to which Bell proudly asserted, “That’s my girl right there!”

“I get all the details,” she added.

Bell’s sly confession comes on the heels of her admission that she cries weekly while navigating “brutal” marriage and parenting challenges.

“It’s hard,” she divulged to Bustle on Thursday. “Do not think because I am on your television that it is easy for me.”

Bell also shared that she is intentionally vocal about her family’s struggles because she doesn’t want people to think their children are “the only one doing this.”

“For the good of the people, we should share our dirty stories, we should share our shame, we should share our hardships. But for the good of the one? My main job in life is to protect those two.”

Also during her sitdown with Bustle, Bell revealed that she chooses not to take on projects that “pull [her] away from [her] kids too much.”

“I would easily let my whole career and all its legacy and notoriety [disappear] tomorrow if it meant sacrificing something major in my kids’ lives, or not being there,” she explained.

Since becoming a mom in 2013, Bell has made several headlines for her parenting skills, from giving her kids non-alcoholic beer to letting them use curse words.

As for Shepard, 51, he often discusses parenting tactics on his “Armchair Expert” podcast.

In November 2025, the comedian explained that he and Bell purposefully raise “entitled” and “disrespectful” daughters who are “unruly” and “talk back.”

“I want them to always advocate for themselves, whether I think they’re right or wrong,” he explained of the decision.
