The first model was running late. But 15 minutes after her call time, she arrived—zooming down the hall to Condé Nast studio four, her nails click-clacking on the floor.

Her rider had just one item on it: sliced turkey from Wegmans, which she gobbled up insatiably. By the end of the shoot, she had eaten almost a pound of deli meat, and the rush had her climbing up the walls (or, rather, scaling a pile of dog beds).

Whatever fuel it took, Emmy—an 11-year-old rescue mix—looked undeniably chic as she slipped on a striped Dogue x J.Crew sweater to pose atop a Raja Doggo dog bed. She was just the first of six canine friends of Vogue enlisted to model our special Dogue merch alongside luxury dog accessories.

Lázaro—also known as Lachu—a five-year-old, four-and-a-half-pound apple-head Chihuahua, showed up ready to work. As he posed for his own version of Vogue’s “In the Bag” special (featuring himself in the bag, of course) with a Dogue x Alex Mill tote, the humans on set made faces at him and laughed. Lachu looked at us like he didn’t know what was so funny; he was simply doing his job. When he got a little peckish, an assistant ran to the cafeteria to procure a bowl of berries, his snack of choice.

“Dogs are being spoiled today,” said Kya George, Vogue’s digital visuals editor.

If there were an award for the chillest dog model, Petunia would be the front-runner. Just as not every human is a hat person, not every dog is willing to accessorize with a baseball cap—but Petunia was game. The three-year-old mini Australian shepherd modeled both the green and blue Dogue caps, along with a red and white Dogue x J.Crew sweater.

Josie, a rescue from New Orleans who was curious about everything and everyone, came with the biggest entourage. Often mistaken for a deer, the lanky brunette jumped over obstacles on set with a surprising finesse. She wore an Hermès collar and seemed ready to flash a dazzling smile at everyone. She paused for a quick lunch, which she ate out of a Dogue x Henry Holland dog bowl.

The first bark of the day came courtesy of Bean, a four-year-old Cavapoo who was hypnotized by treats. He shook it off (literally) when one harness didn’t fit. “Bean, you’re in Hermès,” said Bean’s mom proudly, and he seemed satisfied, although he did try to make a break for it.

The final talent of the day, a Maltese named Cleo (also known as Mandu), arrived incognito, skating under the radar in a carrying case. On set, she made herself right at home, lounging on a gingham Zara bed. It was a relaxing end to a day full of models walking off set, barking, howling, and lots of dog food—though, miraculously, no bathroom accidents. Nonetheless, as the last model wrapped, the dog beds were looking pretty enticing to the humans too.
